Hand screenprinted fabrics

About

Sara Parker Textiles creates hand screenprinted fabrics for makers and the trade.

Each design is printed in-house on ethically sourced base cloths. The process begins with a sketch by Sara that eventually finds its way into a repeat pattern through the story it wishes to tell: sometimes with color pencils, paper stencils, or ink.

Sara Parker Textiles are fabrics with spirit, a sense of place, and a nod to our natural world.

Sustainability

Ethical production and mindset are the heart of our operation. That's why we source organic and ethically-milled base cloths, and try our best to put to use every scrap of fabric.

  • We limit fabric waste by printing to order and welcoming custom orders.
  • With our offcuts, we make quilts, fabric bundles, buttons and many other goodies to sell in our shop.
Misprints and over-yardage are discounted significantly for our customers. Smaller bits of cloth are composted in our garden.
  • Our washout booth is filtered to contain larger particles from entering the water system.
  • We use recycled paper, packing supplies, and paper bags. We no longer use "biodegradable" cello sleeves.
  • With every order, we plant three trees with our partner Ecologi.
  • During our Open Studio days we collect unwanted textiles from the community to recycle.

Offcuts are pieced together to make beautiful quilts.

Production

SPT fabrics are screenprinted in-house by Sara and Lizzie.

The studio accommodates two eighteen foot tables where continuous yardage is printed at fifty inches wide.

Waterbased inks are hand-mixed by Sara in small batches.

Where to find us

The studio is open to the public once a year, usually in November, to shop, see our space, and talk textiles. With the ongoing pandemic, we invite you to walk through our garden and see our processes with the videos below:
